The Social Media

Today I want to speak very shortly on the subject of social media. We cannot argue with the fact that, for most people, it has become a big part of our lives. In that regard, it also seems to me that lately it has become a huge trend to focus on how scary social media is, how bad of an influence it is and how much it is all a charade… This, in my opinion, is strange.
I personally think that social media isn’t “the bad guy”. It creates a perfect platform for you to express yourself, to stay in touch with your family and friends, and to connect with amazing people all over the world – to put it in another way, it can be whatever you want it to be. If you feel like social media has a bad influence on you, it’s because you are making it a bad influence. YOU decide who to follow, you decide which pictures to like, you decide who you want to get inspired by, you decide who to listen to, and most importantly, you decide what to post. Only YOU. Nobody is forcing you to follow that picture perfect account on Instagram. Nobody is forcing you to post pictures of yourself and your life. Nobody is forcing you to search the hashtags #fitspo #skinny #beautiful #relationshipsgoals or whatever you may search on. Basically, what you’re searching for, is just a representation of what captures your attenion. This is all you, choosing consciously or subconsciously what you want to be inspired by. This is you, creating exactly what social media means to you. Social media itself is neutral. It’s just a platform. It has no evil agenda. Use it as you please. Use it to search new amazing knowledge. Use it to find antique books. Use it to meet amazing people. Use it to search for funny cats. Use it to stay in touch with your loved ones. Use it for whatever you like. You choose.
